Ground Receiving Stations are surface-based facilities designed to provide near-real time communication with satellites, in space, orbiting above the earth surface. They are a type of radio equipment used to exchange information with space (satellites) from the earth surface. By operating our own Ground Receiving Station, the NRSC and partners benefit from timely access to optical and radar satellite data; which is essential in reaching the fast emerging demand for application of satellite data in engineering, agriculture, climate change, disaster mitigation efforts and environmental management. The availability of multi-satellite data sources is a key factor in government programs towards resolving diverse economic (real world) problems ranging from weather and climate, food and water security, land use planning and monitoring of developmental activities, natural resources conservation and environmental management, support mitigation and management of disasters and real estate.
