NRSC Hosts Form Two Learners in Ground Receiving Station STEM Outreach

Lusaka, 8 April 2026 – The National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) welcomed 67 Formo learners and three teachers from Emmanuel Adventist Secondary School in Chisamba for an educational visit to the Ground Receiving Station (GRS), as part of the Centre’s ongoing outreach programme extended to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) schools.

During the visit, learners were introduced to the fundamentals of remote sensing and satellite technology, gaining first‑hand insight into how satellite data is received, processed, and transformed into images and used for national development. Through an interactive presentation, NRSC officers explained the Centre’s mandate, the role of the GRS, and why Earth Observation technologies are critical for sectors such as agriculture, environmental monitoring, land management, and disaster preparedness.

The programme also highlighted career opportunities in remote sensing and geospatial sciences, guiding learners on key secondary school subjects required for future studies in STEM.

This initiative reflects NRSC’s commitment to early skills development and science awareness, supporting Zambia’s long‑term capacity building in space science and geospatial technologies. NRSC continues to engage schools across the country to inspire future scientists and innovators.
